Tales of Actual Workplace Conversations!
Intern 1: ...I've never seen anything like this. What is it?
Coworker: I... I don't know. It looks like some kind of fiber optic cable, but it's attached to two metallic probes. Maybe it's for continuity testing?
Intern 2: Yeah, but the ends are sealed -- could there be something that translates electricity to light inside the probe itself?
Coworker: I have no idea... I've never seen anything like this -- hey Eric? What are these?
Intern 1: Yeah, they look really cool.
Me: ...those are my wife's circular knitting needles, guys.
Coworker (after long pause): ...so they're used for fiber manipulation and configuration then? Cool.
